Prost! Don’t Miss the Encinitas Oktoberfest on Sunday, September 29th
If you’re looking for a way to blend Southern California sunshine with the festive spirit of a classic German celebration, then the Oktoberfest in Encinitas on September 29th is where you need to be! Located along Mountain Vista Drive off El Camino Real between Wandering Road and Rambling Road, the event will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Encinitas Oktoberfest brings the best of Bavaria to the California coast. Expect authentic German food like bratwursts, sauerkraut, perogies and pretzels from Tarantino’s Gourmet Sausage and Taste of Poland paired with a stein of cold, crisp beer. Local and imported brews will be flowing, including traditional German lagers and craft beers from local breweries.
The Local Craft Beer Garden will celebrate San Diego’s thriving craft beer scene and feature local breweries Burgeon Beer Co. Bivouac Ciderworks, Duck Foot Brewing, Julian Hard Cider, Modern Times Beer, RationAle non-alcoholic craft beer and Fox Point Brewing Company, who is also the beer stein sponsor. Craft Coast Beer & Tacos’ beer will be exclusively poured in the Family Tent, and they will also be pouring beer and giving away free tacos to the first 500 served in the Craft Beer Garden. Los Cuernos California Wine will be served in both tents. It’s a chance to sip and savor the flavors of Oktoberfest without needing to book a flight to Munich!
German bands and local musicians will keep the atmosphere buzzing with energy. Don’t miss the traditional folk dances, which add an authentic touch to the celebration, and Bavarian music from the Our Song band. Dance troupes from The Gemütlichkeit Alpine Dancers and the Encinitas Ballet will perform, and a DJ will provide music at the Craft Beer Garden. Buskers will perform live throughout the festival, showcasing their talent. Pixel Pro Photo Booth will be taking free framed Oktoberfest photos for attendees, and participants in the Stein Holding Contest and kids’ games have a chance to win passes from San Diego-area attractions and museums. Also new this year: The Johnny Deadly Trio will close out the event from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Family Tent.
Encinitas Oktoberfest isn’t just for adults; it’s a family and pet-friendly event. The Kids Play Zone area will offer games, crafts, and activities for kids, ensuring that everyone has a great time. From face painting to inflatable slides and a rock-climbing wall, there’s plenty to keep the little ones entertained while the adults enjoy the festivities. This year there will be the first-ever pet costume contest where your furry four-legged companions can show off their best lederhosen and German-themed costumes and compete for fun prizes.
And make sure and explore the marketplace filled with local vendors and artisans. It’s a great opportunity to shop for unique crafts, jewelry, and other handmade goods. Supporting local businesses while enjoying the festive atmosphere is a win-win! More than 150 local vendors and North San Diego County businesses will be featured at the artisan craft fair.
