Exploring the World-Class Parks of Encinitas

Encinitas parks are second to none with more than 19 unique community parks, three sports parks, a world-class skatepark, off-leash dog park and some of the best playgrounds anywhere in the County.
Encinitas Community Park is home to an expansive children’s play area with picnic facilities and Encinitas Skate Plaza – or Poods – a fantastic skatepark for beginners and pros in the heart of San Diego’s North County skateboard scene. Built with input from some of the world’s best skaters, the park – open from 8am-sunset — is located in Cardiff at 425 Sante Fe Drive.
The Encinitas Community Park is in the heart of Encinitas, where you will find a truly unique hidden gem, Dave’s Rock Garden, at 200-298 B Street. Since 2015, Encinitas resident Dave Dean has worked tirelessly to transform this coastal plot of land from a neglected dirt lot into a work of art. He first started by picking up trash and pulling out the weeds — then began planting succulents and adding artistic details, mostly painted rocks–which is largely the theme today. Dave encouraged his neighbors and strangers alike to contribute to the garden. Today the garden is thriving, every inch being filled with sweet messages and colorful paintings.
In addition to being one of Encinitas’ most popular family beaches, Moonlight Beach is home to a grass park with a shaded play area for kids in addition to the large family-friendly beach. The park features stunning ocean views, volleyball courts and fire rings and is the perfect place to put down a beach towel and watch the kids play while enjoying the sunshine. Forgot to pack a lunch or boogie board? Beach Wolf Concession has all you need to rent or eat including mouth-watering burritos and tacos. Clean restrooms and showers are available if you or your family want to take a quick ocean dip.
Cottonwood Creek Park, off Vulcan, offers a gazebo and grassy knoll, children’s area with rock climbing wall, walking-hiking trail, tennis court, two half-court basketball courts and a flowing stream. With its beautiful landscaping, native plants, dragonflies and butterflies, this park offers plenty of fun things to do for kids of all ages.
